Working Paper Abstract
Expanding longevity can be described as the human race’s consistent goal throughout our time on Earth, with people through history trying to fight biology and fulfill our almost innate desire to live forever. Perhaps most famous were the ventures of new world explorers looking for the mythical fountain of youth. In many ways, we have made significant inroads. The twentieth century witnessed a worldwide increase in lifespan as a result of better nutrition, improved living conditions, and the advent of vaccinations. The twenty-first century brings new trends including exponential growth in elderly population and increases in chronic disease that come naturally with age progression . . .
