ST-EUSTATIO 31 de Agosto de 2011- Durante la reciente misión de OPS/OMS que encabezó el Dr Jenkins junto con el Dr Morales a Sint-Maarten y Saba, se tuvo la oportunidad de concretar un encuentro (el día 3 de agosto) con las autoridades de una de las nuevas municipalidades de ultramar del Reino de Holanda: St-Eustatius. En el encuentro participaron la Dra. Roosberg (del Departamento de Salud Pública) y el Sr. Hensen (Comisionado de Agricultura). En esta oportunidad se decidió trabajar a mediano plazo los temas de preparación para desastres, control de vectores (i.e., en particular Dengue) y salud del adolescente (i.e., con énfasis en la problemática de la obesidad). Se acordó también averiguar la posibilidad de un apoyo en el tema del control sanitario de carnes y en control de roedores. En el corto plazo, se harán esfuerzos por incorporar los datos de St-Eustatius a la publicación Salud de las Américas. Por último, se coordinará también el trabajo para implementar el acuerdo sobre el Reglamento Sanitario Internacional.
During the recent PAHO/WHO mission to Sint-Maarten and Saba, leaded by
Dr Jenkins with Dr. Morales, a meeting was held on August 3rd with the
authorities of one of the new overseas municipalities of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands: St-Eustatius. The participants in the meeting were: Dr.
Roosberg from the Department of Public Health and Mr. Hensen
(Commissioner for Agriculture). Priority will be given on the mid-run to
disaster preparedness, vector control (in particular, Dengue) and
adolescent’s health (ie, with a specific accent on obesity). It was also
agreed to enquire about the possibility to obtain technical support to
the island for quality control for meet and rodent control. In the short
run, efforts will be deployed to incorporate data from St-Eustatius to
the 12th edition of Health in the Americas. Finally, attention will be
given to implement the mechanisms defined by the International Health
Regulation agreement.
