In February 2003, the Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) signed a three-year US$ 2.9 million agreement to implement and scale-up the three components of the IMCI strategy, provide essential drugs, and promote prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS (PMTCT) activities in five countries (Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Haiti). In August 2004, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation (BMSF) announced an agreement with CMMB to bolster its partnership with PAHO in Action for Family Health. Working with faith-based organizations combined with the private and public sectors, the Partnership will increase country coverage and access to qualified health services to contribute towards reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
