Trinidad and Tobago, 1st February, 2013. Mr. David Benton, Chief Executive Officer of the International Nursing Council, with the support of PAHO spent a week from Jan 21st to the 25th 2013 in Trinidad and Tobago. He visited to give his expert input and advice to the revision of the 1960 Nursing and Midwife Administration Act (which has several subsequent amendments). Mr. Benton has done similar work in other countries in the Caribbean, including Jamaica, and in countries around the world.
Mr. Benton had meetings with several stakeholders including the Nursing Council, the Accreditation Council and Officials from the Ministry of Health (MoH). He highlighted issues surrounding mobility of nurses within the Caribbean Region as well as throughout the world
