According to the Chilean government:

Latin America and the Caribbean as allies of the European Union in pursuit of its economic recovery

“On 26 and 27 January the Heads of State and Government of the 61 countries that make up the Community of Latin American & Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU) will gather in Santiago de Chile with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission.

The central theme of the first CELAC-EU Summit will be: “Alliance for Sustainable Development: Promoting Social and Environmental Quality Investments”.

Although the summit will continue the thriving dialogue of the six previous summits between the Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union, this is the first time that the Latin American and the Caribbean regions gather under the same umbrella, CELAC.

It is also the first time that all three branches of government will participate in this bi-regional partnership. The summit of leaders in Santiago will hear the bi-regional recommendations established by multiple Civil Society forums and the Judicial Power Summit. …”
