PAHO Launches Primary Health Care Collaborative Network to Promote Cooperation and Exchange of Experiences

An initiative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) with support from the Ministry of Health of Brazil, the Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP), and other partners.

The Collaborative Primary Health Care Network—a virtual space where you can share and discuss experiences, practices and lessons learned in this field—was launched 31 July at the International Seminar on Primary Health Care organized by the Ministry Health of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro

This network is intended to strengthen health systems in the Region of the Americas through the incorporation of the principles, values and elements of the PHC strategy. Its purpose is to bring the knowledge to action and action to knowledge using information technology and communication in order to contribute to the transformation of health systems based on PHC in the Region of the Americas. Bali High-Level Meeting: Towards Country-led Knowledge Hubs

“WASHINGTON, July 10, 2012 – At least 290 policy makers and delegates from 46 countries convened today in Bali for the High-Level Meeting on South-South Cooperation, with the theme ‘Towards Country-Led Knowledge Hubs’. 

“The objective of the meeting is to push for Knowledge Exchange in the context of South-South cooperation.  The conference discusses the opportunities, challenges, and experiences in developing and building institutions that can act as ‘Knowledge Hubs’ — centers that can compile experiences and build a more systematic network of Knowledge Exchange experts,” said Minister Armida Alisjahbana of the National Development Planning Agency, Indonesia.

Minister Alisjahbana further explained that Knowledge Exchange is a key instrument in achieving development objectives, and in strengthening national capacity.  Developing nations offer many best practices that may be adapted to suit development challenges; the challenge is how to learn and share information about these best practices. …”

Regional Observatory of Human Resources in Health

 The Observatory of Human Resources in Health is a regional network of governments, academic institutions, service and social organizations, that is sponsored by the Pan American Health Organization, and designed to facilitate the generation, analysis and exchange of information, knowledge and experiences related to human resources in health from the entire Region.  The observatory aims to support decision making and the formulation and implementation of public policies related to health human resources to respond to national and regional public health needs.
