Gisela Alonso

Gisela Alonso is the current President of the Cuban Agency of Environment, a position she has held since 1999. Ms. Alonso has held several positions in the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and participated in diverse conferences of the UN. She has also been an active advocate for the sustainable development of Small Island Developing States. Ms. Alonso has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Havana, and obtained her Doctorate in Biological Sciences in 1979.
