The use of scientific evidence by authors of health blogs in Latin America is the topic for a research study conducted by the Catholic University of Chile in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization.

Through a survey, the researchers seek to describe the general characteristics of the health blogs written in Spanish, the sources of information and how these are used. They also wish to explore how the authors of the health blogs interpret the concept of the quality and reliability of scientific evidence.

The research study is part of the first stage in a project that seeks to increase knowledge on how to create and share health information in the blogosphere.
