CARMEN Network

The CARMEN Pan American network is PAHO's main vehicle for action in the area of integrated prevention and control of chronic noncommunicable diseases (CNCDs) throughout the Americas.

CARMEN was formed as a result of the awareness among PAHO Member Countries that the CNCD epidemic accounts for nearly two-thirds of the total number of deaths in the Americas—and that, to a large extent, these diseases are dependent on risk factors and lifestyles amenable to modification, and are thus preventable. It is cross-cutting and intersectoral and aimed at an integrated, comprehensive approach. This page tells about CARMEN and its goals, with links to its newsletters, documentation, and country reports.
