Vaccination Week in the Americas Seeks to Reach the Region's Indigenous Populations

Washington, DC, April 26, 2012 (PAHO) - Countries of the Americas are trying to take vaccines to the indigenous peoples of the region, to protect against a wide range of diseases, in the context of the 10th Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) and the first World Immunization Week. The activities of Vaccination Week strengthen national immunization programs in the Americas, particularly to reach groups and communities with little access to regular health services, such as people living in urban neighborhoods, rural and border areas.
