Partnership: Tropical Diseases, Special Programme for Research and Training

Tropical Diseases, Special Programme for Research and Training (TDR) funds research in infectious tropical diseases, and provides support and training to researchers and institutions in the countries where these diseases occur.

What's New

• New TDR Director visit PAHO: Dr. John Reeder, Director TDR, visited PAHO Headquarters on 15 March accompanied by Drs. Meinrad Studer and Fabio Zicker, both senior staff of his team. In its short visit he conferenced with Dr. Roses, PAHO Director, and participated in a technical meeting with professionals of various teams: neglected diseases, research promotion and development, malaria, essential medicines and health technology, human resources and tuberculosis. Dr. Reeder indicated that under his management TDR will focus on projects where it has a comparative advantage and accordingly its impact can be greater. By the end of his visit it is clear that both institutions wish to strengthen even more the close collaboration that they have had for several years. A very timely visit in order to create existing closer ties.
