The
Office of the Director, through
the Chief of Staff provides high-level advice and support to the Director
involving political, technical and administrative issues and coordinate the
Executive Management team; and coordinates and follows up all the director's
official activities and events.
The
Office of the Director
produces and disseminates strategic public health information from the
Director's official activities within PAHO and between PAHO health policy
decision-makers, managers, professionals and general staff; between PAHO's
Member States and their Ministries of Health; between the United Nations'
Regional Directors for the Americas; between WHO Director-General and Assistants
of the Director-General (ADGs); and with key partners in the Region; to promote
and work for PAHO leadership as a public health authority in the
Americas.
The
Office of the Director
ensures that the strategic, political and managerial issues are taken into
consideration and that the decisions made are implemented, managing workload
distribution among both the technical and support staff, developing and
implementing effective and efficient office procedures, and managing the
office's human and financial resources to best meet mission objectives. The
Office of the Director supports the Offices directly aligned under the Director.
The
Office of the Director
contributes to the implementation of initiatives and priorities of the
Organization working closely with the Director, members of the Executive
Management, Area Managers, Center Directors, Head of Offices, WHO, and
international organizations, among others; promoting policy guidance and
providing implementing directions to Headquarters and Field Offices on decisions
made by the Director on a wide range of administrative, business management, and
operational issues.
