On Thursday April 28th, 2011, the Health Secretary for the State of
Baja California inaugurated the Immunization Schedule Comparison Tool
organized by
his office, the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission (USMBHC)
and the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization
(PAHO/WHO)
U.S.-Mexico Border Office, the two-day workshop was held at the
Auditorium of the Hopsital Angeles in Tijuana, Baja California.
Dr. Gustavo Iturralde, Technical Officer Health Promotion & Family Health for the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization
(PAHO/WHO) United States - Mexico Border Office, presented the Mexico Vaccination Schedule in comparison with the California, United States, and
oriented health care providers from Tijuana and San Diego about how to assure adequate vaccination for infants and toddlers coming from e United States
into Mexico and vice versa.
Macareno Ernesto Alvarado, Head of the Tijuana Health Jurisdiction, participated in this event and reported that the training workshop strengthens the
Vaccination Week of the Americas, with the participation of the Pan American Health Organization, the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission and the
Ministry of Health. He explained that "these organizations reinforce prevention activities in the community and in the medical field, and strengthen
the capacity and skill of those responsible in the areas of immunization services and health campaigns."
