Abraham Horwitz Award for Excellence in Leadership in Inter-American Public Health

The award recognizes committed leaders and their contributions to public health resulting in region-wide improvements in the lives of the peoples of
the Americas.
Clarence H. Moore Award for Excellence for Voluntary Service
(www.pahef.org/moore)
The award recognizes the achievements of NGOs with a high ratio of volunteers performing work in Latin America and/or the Caribbean to improve public
health.
Fred L. Soper Award for Excellence in Public Health Literature
(www.pahef.org/soper)
The award recognizes an article published within the last three years in a journal indexed in a medical database or the Pan American Journal of Public Health. The article should be based on research that emphasizes regional impact in Latin America and/or the
Caribbean.
Pedro N. Acha Award for Excellence in Veterinary Public Health
(www.pahef.org/acha)
The award recognizes an undergraduate student’s research paper based on his or her undergraduate thesis within the veterinary public health field. The
research paper and thesis must be written within the last three years.
Manuel Velasco Suárez Award for Excellence in Bioethics
(www.pahef.org/mvs)
The award is given to a scholar who has a demonstrated commitment in the field and submits a sound research proposal for scholarly activities to be
carried out in basic or applied bioethics.
Sérgio Arouca Award for Excellence in Universal Health Care
(www.pahef.org/arouca)
The award recognizes programs, institutions, or individuals that have contributed to expanding access to universal, high-quality health care,
especially primary care.

The PAHO/PAHEF Awards for Excellence in Inter-American Public Health stimulate the growth of the next and rising generation of leaders working together
to improve health and health care in the Americas. A jury of distinguished public health professionals reviews nominations and recommends a candidate
