zoonoses / animal healthZoonoses are diseases of vertebrate animals that can be transmitted to humans. Of the 1,415 known human pathogens in the world, 61% are zoonotic and therefore are directly related to activities in the area of Veterinary Public Health. Recent outbreaks of emerging zoonoses (epizootics) and the unfinished agenda for zoonotic diseases involve myriad risks and generally affect the most underprivileged and vulnerable populations.
