(2010) International Women's Day

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and the Inter-American Comission of Women (CIM/OAS) celebrated International Women’s Day 2010 on March 12 with the theme “Gender Equality in Health: A Right for Adolescents.” OAS ambassadors, PAHO staff, partners of other UN, and civil society organization joined to celebrate this important event.

During the event, Dr. Mirta Roses, PAHO’s Director, introduced and awarded the three Best Practices that incorporate a Gender Equality Perspective in Health of Adolescents and Youth, selected from over 71 submissions to a regional contest.
