The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) would like to cordially invite you to attend a special session, entitled “Public Health, Innovation and Intellectual Property: Perspective for the Americas,” organized for the 2009 Global Forum for Health Research. The session will be held on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 starting at 13:45 and ending at 15:30.

The session at the 2009 Global Forum for Health Research will follow the format below:

Assessing current conditions: PAHO, in collaboration with the Inter-American and Ibero-American Network on Science and Technology Indicators (RICYT, CYTED) and Member States, is surveying and systematizing regional information on the area of access, intellectual property rights and innovation. Initial results from these studies will be presented at the meeting and should serve to build a conceptual map to guide future implementation of the regional perspective.

Regional showcase and Panel Discussion: Four brief presentations that showcase successful regional, sub-regional and national case studies in the areas of access, intellectual property legislation and/or innovation.
