First confirmed case of SARS in Singapore during the post-epidemic period: On 13 September 2003, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States (CDC) confirmed a single case of SARS in Singapore.

This past 5 November 2003, the WHO Consultation on SARS Vaccine Research and Development was held, involving the participation of more than 50 researchers from 15 countries.

The last reported probable case in Taiwan, and in the world was detected and isolated on 15 June.

On Friday, 26 December, the Ministry of Health of China informed the World Health Organization about a suspected case of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in a hospital in Guangzhou, Guangdong province.

On 5 January 2003, laboratory results confirmed SARS-CoV infection in a 32-year-old male from Guangdong province in Southern China.

The first case reported to WHO on 22 April involved a 20-year-old nurse who developed symptoms compatible with the illness in Beijing on 5 April, and who was hospitalized in Beijing hospital on 7 April and was subsequently transferred to another hospital on 14 April.
