Hurricane Irene passed through Puerto Rico, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas, and is now headed towards the east coast of the United States. There are no reports of deaths. Some hospitals and other health facilities on the path of the hurricane experienced flooding and minor damages, according to the Situation Report of PAHO's Emergency Operations Center.

After sweeping across the Caribbean affecting Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas, Irene crossed the US as a category 1 hurricane. Irene continues moving into eastern Canada now with tropical storm force winds.
