The World Health Organization Commission on Social Determinants
of Health recognizes the impact of social, political and economic conditions on health. Thus, in order to improve the quality of health of the population, it proposes among other recommendations:
to improve the daily living conditions; to tackle the inequitable distribution of power, money and resources; and to measure and understand the problem and assess the impact of action. The determinant factors of health have always been understood by indigenous peoples through their holistic perception of wellbeing and good living.
