In February 2003 the Executive Management Team was created to participate with the Director in leading the Organization. The members of this team include the Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director and Director of Administration. The Chief of Staff serves as Secretary. The Executive Management has the following responsibilities as a collegial body:
- Manages and leads the PAHO Secretariat.
- Develops the Organization’s strategic direction, priorities, and policy.
- Coordinates the planning and implementation of organization-wide executive-level policies and initiatives, and collaborates with various managers and staff to identify the most effective means of carrying out crosscutting objectives, ensuring the implementation and mainstreaming of PAHO policies.
- Establishes, implements and monitors PAHO’s business rules and boundaries.
- Defines and mobilizes key resource requirements for realizing PAHO’s vision.
- Empowers the Organization through information sharing and effective communication, fostering inter-unit collaboration, and accountability.
