PAHO director met with Colombian authorities in first official visit

PAHO Director Carissa F. Etienne is in Colombia this week (March 3-8) for her first official visit to the country. She met with high-level officials including Minister of Health Alejandro Gaviria and Minister of Foreign Affairs María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar to discuss ways of strengthening PAHO’s technical cooperation in the country.

Etienne is participating in two conferences organized by the U.N. Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC): the Conference on Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean: Follow-up to the Development Agenda beyond 2015 and Rio+20 and the Caribbean Forum: Shaping a Sustainable Development Agenda to Address the Caribbean Reality in the 21st Century.

Etienne is taking part in a meeting of PAHO subregional program managers that is being hosted by PAHO‘s representative in Colombia, Teófilo Monteiro.
