13º International Dengue Course

13º International Dengue CourseDengue is a public Health problem worldwide. The American hemisphere is not the exception, with more than 35 countries report transmission of the disease and where it has been responsible for outbreaks and epidemics that has cost many lives in recent years.

In view of the importance of counting on health professionals in dengue control and prevention in the Americas and as part of the regional activities to strengthen the capacities of the countries, PAHO sponsors, year after year, high-level scientific events on the new tools used in surveillance of Dengue, its prevention and control.

Since the year 1987, the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for the study of Dengue in Cuba, the Institute of Medicine Tropical Pedro Kouri, with the auspices of the Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology, the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba (MINSAP) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) organize the International Course of Dengue.

The 13rd edition of this course will be carried out from 12 to 23 August 2013 in the city of Havana, aiming that the participants (physicians, virologists, immunologists, sociologists, epidemiologists, entomologists, health administrators, among other professionals interested in the subject), jointly with professors of prestigious national and international institutions, discuss the most relevant and current aspects of this disease and its control.
