Leptospirosis

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease with epidemic potential, especially after heavy rainfall. It occurs throughout the world and is emerging as an important public health problem in both tropical and subtropical countries, affecting mostly vulnerable populations (WHO 2010; WHO 2011).

Humans usually acquire leptospirosis through direct contact with the urine of infected animals or a urine-contaminated environment. Read More

Experts in leptospirosis meet in Brasilia

Experts in leptospirosis meet in Brasilia About 20 international experts from 13 countries as well as 40 national experts from more than 15 states participated in the Global Leptospirosis Environmental Action Network (GLEAN) meeting, which was held at the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Country Office in Brasilia, Brazil from March 12th to 14th, 2013.
