| World Heart Day: Cardiovascular Diseases Cause 1.9 Million Deaths a Year in the Americas |
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world and in the majority of the countries of the Americas, where they cause 1.9 million deaths per year. However, a high proportion of these diseases can be prevented with a healthy diet, physical exercise and by avoiding tobacco, among other measures.
