| Dr. Mirta Roses Periago Named Director Emeritus of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau |
Acting on a proposal by the Government of the Bahamas, the 28th Pan American Sanitary Conference approved a resolution naming Dr. Mirta Roses Periago Director Emeritus of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau upon her retirement in February 2013.
This resolution was presented minutes after Dr. Carissa Etienne was elected as the new director of PAHO. Etienne will assume this position on February 1, 2013, succeeding Dr. Roses, who occupies that position since 2003.
