PAHO and PRADICAN will work together to implement "Strong Families"

On May 9, 2012, Dr. Mirta Roses, Director of PAHO, signed an agreement with the European Union to implement the "Strengthening Families with Adolescents 10-14 years old: Love and Limits" with PRADICAN. Mr. Adolfo Miguel Lopez Butillo, Coordinator of Political Topics at the Andean Community (CAN), came to represent PRADICAN.

PAHO´s Adolescent Health team will work with PRADICAN for 6 months to implement the Strengthening Families program in 4 countries: Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia.

The main objective of the program is to promote parenting skills and better communication in families to reduce risk factors and risky behavior among adolescents and their parents, thus avoiding the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other substances in the youth population.

More information about the Strengthening Families program is available here and on the program´s Tumblr.
