La reunión de Jefes de Programas de Control de la Tuberculosis es un evento que se celebra cada dos años, en los que se revisa y analiza la situación mundial, regional y nacional de tuberculosis de los países que participan, en el marco de la implementación de la Estrategia Alto a la TB, el Plan Mundial y Regional para detener la Tuberculosis; así como revisar el cumplimiento de las acuerdos y recomendaciones asumidos en reuniones anteriores.
La Reunión del 14 al 16 de septiembre de 2011, en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, se efectuó en un momento oportuno en relación con la consecución de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (resolución 55/2 de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas) donde 147 Jefes de Estado y 189 países rubricaron el compromiso de hacer realidad el derecho al desarrollo con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida de la humanidad en el nuevo siglo.
