Healthcare costs are rising everywhere, yet people are not getting the care they need. Now more than ever, the answer is reform based on primary health care.

Health systems around the world are failing to meet the needs of the people they are supposed to serve, a failure that is now becoming "a threat to social stability," says the 2008 World Health Report, Primary Health Care: Now More than Ever.

República Dominicana refuerza acciones para evaluar la transmisión de la filariasis linfática en el paísEn la ciudad de Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, se realizó el pasado 13 y 14 de junio del 2013 el primer taller nacional de capacitación sobre estudios para la evaluación de la transmisión (EVT) de la filariasis linfática. En este taller fueron entrenados 16 trabajadores de salud del país quienes apoyan las acciones del programa nacional de eliminación de filariasis linfática (PNEFL) bajo la coordinación del Centro Nacional de Enfermedades Tropicales (CENCET).

Certification of the Interruption of Vectoral Transmission of Trypanosoma cruzi in BelizeDuring the 14th Meeting (13-14 November 2012) of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Initiative of Central American Countries for the Interruption of Vectoral and Transfusional Transmission and Medical Care of Chagas Disease (IPCA) Belize was certified with the Standard of Interruption of Vectoral Transmission of Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi).
