Strengthening CNCD Surveillance, MERCOSUR Countries, Brazil, 9/2008

Representatives from the MERCOSUR Members and Associated States gathered together in Brasil to contribute to the final improvements of the proposal on the creation of capacities to evaluate and use available information for decision-making in relation to the prevention and control of chronic noncommunicable diseases (CNCDs) and their risk factors (RFs) at the subregional level of the southern cone States. The meeting presented and promoted CNCDs and RFs, most appropriate to the subregion. Sustainability and commitment from the Member States to Surveillance and formulation of core RFs was another objective the group targeted. The group also addressed the importance of the integrated systems and alliances to carry out surveillance. Full version.
