A website with publications and links about the development and implementation of brief interventions and preventative actions aimed at problems related to alcohol consumption in the Americas. At the May 2008 World Health Assembly, the Member States considered the report of the Secretariat "Strategies to reduce the harmful use of alcohol" and adopted a resolution that mandated that WHO prepares a draft global strategy to to reduce the harmful use of alcohol. This link provides information on resolution WHA61.4 and the current state of its implementation.Link
The PAHO-Valencia Project is being developed in Panama, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Guyana. It focuses on policy development, research on consumption and on injuries resulting from consumption, and training in interventions for professionals in primary health care. (Login Required)
