Washing Hands with Soap and Water Reduces by 50% Childhood Diarrhea and by 25% Respiratory Infections

These diseases are the third and fourth leading cause of death in children under 5 in the Americas and causes 9.5% of deaths

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) joins the Global Partnership between Public and Private Sector to Promote Handwashing (PPPHW), to celebrate the October 15th World Day of Handwashing. The theme this year is "Helping more children reach their 5th birthday."
