International Day for Reduction of Disasters: Women and Girls are Recognized for their Contributions to Communities

To commemorate International Day for Reduction of Disasters, held on 13 October, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) recognizes the millions of women and girls that throughout the world help their communities to be better prepared for disasters and climatic risks.

This year’s theme, “Women and Girls – the (in)Visible Force of Resilience,” seeks to draw attention to the fact that the contributions of this group to protect and rebuild their communities before and after disasters often go unrecognized.

For more information go to the PAHO Disasters website.
