| The Pan American Health Organization Director Dr. Mirta Roses will recognize the best in journalism on the border |
El Paso, TX, September 5, 2012 (PAHO/WHO) – The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) United States-Mexico Border Office, in honor of World Press Freedom Day on May 3, called on journalists in the border region to submit entries for an award in the best in ethical journalism in the categories of print media, television, radio, and electronic media, published or aired in 2011-2012. The goal was to recognize the journalists and the pieces of work that that best addressed the issues and realities of the region while promoting the values of the Pan American Health Organization and contributing to progress in health and well-being. Journalists from both sides of the border, both independent and those who contribute to local media, participated in the contest. The winners will be recognized in an awards ceremony as part of the:
