Chad now has the highest number of polio cases of any country in the world. Transmission is widespread, despite 11 Supplementary Immunization Activities in the past 12 months. The situation has prompted WHO to update its risk assessment of potential international spread of polio, via notification in the International Health Regulations 2005 (IHR 2005) mechanism.
