In lower and upper middle income countries about 52% of deaths occurred before that age compared with 35% in high income countries, an excess of 17% of deaths. |

In 2007, IHD caused:
- 662,011 deaths, 13% of total deaths in the Americas
- 255,586 deaths, 9.6% of total deaths in Latin America and the Caribbean
