The adoption of a public health perspective in the management (and implementation) of Intellectual Property Rights, through the interpretation of the current international, sub-regional and national legal regime of protection of intellectual property rights applied to medical products and health technologies constitutes a relatively new field of action for health professionals. However, it has been shown how a public health perspective of the protection (and implementation) of intellectual property rights can clearly contribute to the improvement of conditions of access, by addressing on product pricing and availability.
