OMS, Grupo de Política Global revisa importantes temas de política, estrategias y administración

WHO GLOBAL POLICY GROUP (GPG). 
WHO protecting the global population in critical health matters. 
WHO Director-General and the six Regional Directors which make up the Global Policy Group (GPG), will meet in South Africa during their yearly 3 day retreat to review and discuss policy matters to improve and strengthen the performance of the World Health Organization.

Dr Margaret Chan and the Regional Directors will review the latest events that have required the attention of WHO in its mission to protect the global population in critical health matters, monitoring the health situation and assessing health trends, and coordinating the global response to the major challenges in public health.

Main Issues for discussion will include important topics related to policy and strategy and administration and management.  They will also have the opportunity to meet with South African high level authorities including the President and Minister of Health.

The WHO management strategy, the Global Management System (GSM), human resources strategy, mobility and rotation policy, and the planning and resource mobilization policies and strategies will be some of the main topics discussed.

WHO senior public health policy-makers will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss important policy and issues related to national health strategies and health systems strengthening.  The MDG Summit 2010, South-South Cooperation, the Pandemic Review and the Occupational Health Policy are other important topics that will be addressed during the meeting.

Official activities

Many official activities are being organized in light of the high level delegation’s visit to South Africa. In addition to a visit to the Apartheid Museum, the GPG delegation will make a courtesy call to President Jacob Zuma, and will hold meetings with the Minister of Health as part of the official visit, which also includes a visit to SOWETO: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg accompanied by the Minister of Health.

The GPG group will also with the UNCT and with the WHO staff at the AFRO Office in Pretoria.
