PAHO Gender Equality Policy is to work with goverments and civil society in Member States and with other relevant actors to eliminate health disparities between women and men and advance towards the achievement of gender equality and women's empowerment goals. PAHO is also committed to advancing gender equality in its own work force.

The goal of this policy is to contribute to the achievement of gender equality in health status and health development through research, policies, and programs which give due attention to gender differences in health and its determinants, and actively promote equality between women and men.
