Regional Core Health Data Initiative

Regional Core Health Data and Country Profile is a PAHO Initiative which was launched in 1995 to monitor the attainment of health goals and it is compliance with the mandates of PAHO Member States.

This information platform on the health situation and trends of countries of the Americas is a collective effort of Member States and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) through its country offices, technical areas, programs and projects, coordinated by the Health Information and Analysis Project.

Components of the Regional Core Health Data Initiative
 
PAHO Basic Indicator Data Base - data updated in December  2011

The online table generator is a multidimensional query tool that offers a collection of 114 indicators for 48 countries and territories of the Americas from 1995 to 2011, organized by the domains:

  • demography
  • socioeconomic
  • mortality by cause indicators
  • morbidity and risk factors
  • access, resources and health services coverage.

Browser of Basic Health indicators is an inteactive tool that allow to look at the complete set of indicators using a crosstab, having countries by rows and indicators by columns. The user can select domains and years to display indicator values. 

Browser of basic health Indicators as time series  is an interactive data table that allow to explore a set of indicators in a time series format. It allows users to select indicators, countries and years. All display data can be downloaded using the Export tool. It is useful for those interested in download a set of core health indicators for further analyses.

Health Situation in the Americas: Basic Indicators

57 indicators of the basic indicators database are published annually in the format of a brochure in English and Spanish. The first edition of Basic Indicators was published in 1995. From the 2003 update on, data is presented by country and subregions.

Atlas of Health Indicators
The Atlas of Health Indicators is an innovative visualization of PAHO Basic Health Indicators. It allows users to explore health indicators using dynamically linked maps and charts, with tools that facilitate comparison of indicators among countries and subregions.


Indicator Trend Chart
Interactive visualization that allows to explore the trends of core health indicators by countries. Indicator could be selected and its trend could be compared among countries.
