PAHO, CDC to Offer Workshop on Organizing 'Ciclovias'

To promote "Car-Free Sundays" and other recreational bikeways (ciclovias) in Latin America, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are offering 20 expenses-paid scholarships for a Dec. 11-13 workshop in Bogotá, Colombia, that will teach participants how to organize these events.

The workshop supports the objectives of World Health Day 2010: "1,000 cities, 1,000 lives - Urban Health Matters." Organizers are recruiting cities across the Americas and around the world to participate on World Health Day with recreational bikeways and other efforts to promote healthy and active urban living.
