The information is obtained from official websites of the Ministries of Health of the countries of the Americas and information submitted by the International Health Regulations (IHR) National Focal Points Summary of the current situationAs of 17 July 2009, a total of 84,125 confirmed cases of the pandemic (H1N1) 2009, including 674 deaths, have been notified in 34 countries of the Americas. The following overseas territories have confirmed cases of pandemic (H1N1) 2009: American Samoa, U.S. Territory (8); Guam, U.S. Territory (1); Puerto Rico, U.S. Territory (18); Virgin Islands, U.S. Territory (44); Bermuda, UK Overseas Territory (1); Cayman Islands, UK Overseas Territory (14); British Virgin Islands, UK Overseas Territory (2); Martinique, French Overseas Community (15); Guadeloupe, French Overseas Community (11); Saint-Martin, French Overseas Community (1); Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao: (10)a; Netherlands Antilles, Aruba (13); Netherlands Antilles, St. Eustatius (1); and Netherlands Antilles, St. Maarten (8). WHO is not recommending any travel restrictions related to the pandemic (H1N1) 2009. In the Americas Region, there were additional 3,482 confirmed cases and 64 deaths compared to previous day.
