Summary of the current situation

As of 2 July 2009, a total of 65,256 confirmed cases of the pandemic H1N1 2009, including 365 deaths, have been notified in 29 countries of the Americas.

The following overseas territories have confirmed cases of pandemic H1N1 2009: Bermuda, UK Overseas Territory (1); Cayman Islands, UK Overseas Territory (14); British Virgin Islands, UK Overseas Territory (2); Martinique, French Overseas Community (2); Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao: (8)(*); Netherlands Antilles, Aruba (5); and Netherlands Antilles, St. Maarten (7).

WHO is not recommending any travel restrictions related to the pandemic H1N1 2009.

(*) Three confirmed cases were registered on a cruise ship.

In the Americas Region, there were additional 7,581 confirmed cases compared to previous day.

United States reported 43 additional deaths caused by pandemic H1N1 2009.
