The Cancer Registries of Quito and
Guayaquil in
Ecuador,
Cali in
Colombia,
Bahia Blanca in
Argentina,
Barbados, and the National Cancer Institute (INCA) in
Brazil participated in this special meeting to plan a special collaborative project between PAHO and the IARC.

Summary
Following active and productive participation, a Task Force was organized to support the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PAHO and IARC to begin carrying out a joint five-year strategic plan and, in operational terms, planning activities for the first year. Agreement was made to:

Finalize the joint proposal for collaboration and a draft MoU.

Report on the meeting on cancer registries and the 2009–2014 plan to MERCOSUR Working Group (GT) 11 in
Asunción,
Paraguay, and at the Meeting of the International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) on 2–3 June 2009 in
New Orleans,
Louisiana,
USA.

With the Task Force, plan two events in
Brazil for this fall:
