Program Description:

LaboratoriosOne of the missions of the Health Technologies for Quality of Care team (THR/HT) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is to cooperate technically with the National Public Health Institutions, regulatory agencies and the public health national laboratories of the Region of the Americas to ensure the continuous improvement of the laboratory services in the clinical diagnosis and epidemiological surveillance; thus contributing to lower morbidity and mortality and optimal patient care in Latin America and the Caribbean.

ASM-PAHO Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Surveillance Professorship and Fellowship Programs PDF Print E-mail

Fellowship Program provides funding to young scientists from Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru to visit a host scientist in the US.  The applicants must be in the process of obtaining, or have obtained within the past 5 years, their Masters, PhD, or other equivalent academic degree and have at least five years of laboratory experience in the area of antimicrobial resistance.  One $4,000 Fellowship is offered per program year. 

Annual Application Deadlines:

October 15 (for Professorships and Fellowships taking place between January 1 – June 30)

April 15 (for Professorships and Fellowships taking place between July 1 – December 31)
