Vaccinations at the First-Level Health Service facility in Saint-Marc, in Haiti’s Artibonite department, have been going more smoothly since last year, when Dr. Chrisline Acerant began to reorganize the country’s immunization services and provide training for health workers involved in vaccination.

Despite improvements in women’s level of schooling, increasing access to paid employment, growing use of contraceptive methods, and reductions in fertility, in 2008, 33% of all births in Paraguay were unplanned, according to a study published in the latest issue of the Pan American Journal of Public Health.
