St Kitts and Nevis took the lead in the Eastern Caribbean in moving towards the implementation of the "Plan of action on the health of Older Persons" approved in October by health authorities of the Americas. A national consultation to discuss a policy document brought together more than 60 participants representing a wide range of institutions from the public and private sectors,as well as NGOs. |

 To promote "Car-Free Sundays" and other recreational bikeways (ciclovias) in Latin America, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are offering 20 expenses-paid scholarships for a Dec. 11-13 workshop in Bogotá, Colombia, that will teach participants how to organize these events. |
