Estimated mortality of Tuberculosis


Situation:  1.4 million (1.2-1.5 millions) deaths were estimated in the World in 2010. In the Region of the Americas the median of the estimated mortality rate of TB cases was 2.6 per 100 000 population, having United State of America with the best situation (0.18) and Haití with the worse situation (29) a range of  0.18 to 29.

Ischemic heart diseases (IHD) is the first cause of death in the Region of the Americas.

In 2007, IHD caused:

  • 662,011 deaths, 13% of total deaths in the Americas
  • 255,586 deaths, 9.6% of total deaths in Latin America and the Caribbean
