Summary

  • Tomas passed northwestern Haiti as a category 1 hurricane producing heaving rains across the country. The most heavily hit departments were the South and Grand’Anse. Most important needs in these areas are food, potable water, and hygiene kits.
  • Field staff from the Government of Haiti’s Department of Civil Protection (DPC) assisted some 10,000 of the most vulnerable people in the country and conducted evacuations to shelters before and during the passage of Hurricane Tomas.
