After a strong aftershock, patients from the El Buen Samaritano hospital in Jimaní (on the border of Dominican Republic and Haiti) left the building and spent the night outside, even though an evaluation has shown the building structure to be sound. Nerves are certainly frayed: a patient with a fractured lef jumped from the second floor, fracturing the other leg. (Photos PAHO/WHO Victor Hugo Ariscain)
